About this funding
Applications for funding can be made for planning or delivery of community facilities . Community facilities must support regular and accessible community use that demonstrates evidence of community benefit, participation, connection and wellbeing. Marae projects must be located on land designated or legally recognised for marae purposes. Shared infrastructure that also benefits adjacent papakāinga or other community uses may be considered where the primary benefit is to the marae and its community. Where the applicant does not solely own the land or facility, the applicant must demonstrate appropriate rights to occupy and use of the site, including clear arrangements for ongoing access, use, and responsibilities e.g. Applications will need to demonstrate: who will use the facility the types of activities it will support how frequently it is expected to be used.
Who can apply
- In addition to the general eligibility requirements on the Lottery fund page, applications for community facilities or marae must also meet the following criteria:
- Community facilities must support regular and accessible community use that demonstrates evidence of community benefit, participation, connection and wellbeing.
- Funding may also be available for projects, community facilities planning and delivery to state and state-integrated schools funded by the Ministry of Education, and local authorities where they meet the additional eligibility requirements.
- Councils and schools (state and state integrated only) may be eligible where they can demonstrate:
- where the application relates to a community facility, the organisation demonstrates that the facility provides an essential community function or is the only reasonable facility available to serve the community.
- Schools and local authorities are not automatically ineligible under the new approach, applications from these organisations will need to clearly demonstrate wider public community benefit and meet the relevant policy criteria.
- Funding is available to assess whether a community facilities project is needed, feasible, affordable, and capable of being delivered.
- Feasibility studies and technical supports must be based on a project brief prepared by the applicant organisation
