About this funding
It starts with a young baby fighting for his life, and a community who stepped up to protect him. The people of South Canterbury raised a significant sum of money to provide medical care for Cody, who required a liver transplant in 1994. In a strange and wonderful twist of fate Cody recovered without surgery. The money was protected by the Timaru Host Lions and in fact helped another young child with an organ transplant. Some 22 years after the fundraising effort Cody did require a liver transplant and the fund was there to help. Fast forward a few years and the Timaru Host Lions entrusted the Aoraki Foundation to protect and grow this fund so it will continue to provide health benefits to South Canterbury forever.
