About this funding
The Western Bay Emergency Response Fund is a collaborative initiative created by Acorn Foundation, Bay Trust, TECT, Tauranga City Council, and Western Bay of Plenty District Council. It delivers co-ordinated financial support to community organisations, marae, and charities responding to emergency events and supporting recovery across the region. Funding prioritises grants that help charitable organisations maintain or adapt critical services for community wellbeing during crisis and emergency recovery periods. Under Charities Commission rules, funding can only be distributed to entities with recognized charitable status.
Who can apply
- Registered charitable organisations recognised by the Charities Commission (including charities, community groups, and marae with charitable purpose)
- Organisations working directly with affected people and communities in Tauranga Moana and the Western Bay of Plenty (stretching from Waihī Beach to Otamarakau)
- Organisations assisting during immediate emergency response or community recovery phases
- Individuals, businesses, informal groups, and entities without charitable status are not eligible
